NEU Teacher Strike Days - Update

Re: NEU Regional Strike Action Day on Weds 1st March – school closed to all pupils

Further to my letters of Weds 18th and Fri 27th January, and Fri 10th February, this is to inform you that the school will be closed to all pupils next Wednesday (1st March).

As you know, the NEU (National Education Union) has formally notified us of regional strike action on that day.  I have again assessed the impact and potential risks, especially safeguarding and health and safety risks, of this, and after further consultation with the Chair of Governors, I have decided to close the school. I will inform the Local Authority (LA), together with Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire Education Transport Services.

Please therefore do go ahead and make alternative arrangements for your child on that day. I hope that the reminder notice has been helpful to you in organising this.

For pupils who have Free School Meals (FSM), you will remember that the £5 vouchers we ordered from Edenred were to cover both the strike action day on Weds 1st February and this potential second strike action day on Weds 1st March.

While your child is at home on Wednesday, please access the ‘Learning At Home’ tab on our website, where there are lots of ideas for a range of learning activities you can do with your child, using resources we hope you can find in the home. There are also stories and ‘how to’ videos you can watch, and past assemblies with lots of interesting topics for the pupils to learn about, linked to their curriculum work. You can access these learning activities here: Learning at Home

The school will remain open as usual for staff.

The next proposed NEU strike action days are Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March, and I will update you about those when I have further information nearer the time.

If there is any progress in terms of the national negotiations before next Wednesday, I will of course also inform you of that at the earliest opportunity.

Patricia Lewis (Headteacher)                                                      Sarah Bustard (Chair of Governors)
