NEU Teacher Strike Days - update

Re: NEU Strike Action Days on Weds 15th and Thursday 16th March – school closed to all pupils

Dear Parent/Guardian(s)

Further to my letters of Weds 18th and Fri 27th January, and Fri 10th and Fri 24th February, this is to inform you that the school will be closed to all pupils next Wednesday (15th) and Thursday (16th) March.

As you know, the NEU (National Education Union) has formally notified us of national strike action on those days. I have again assessed the impact and potential risks, especially safeguarding and health and safety risks, of this, and after further consultation with the Chair of Governors, I have decided to close the school. I will inform the Local Authority (LA), together with Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire Education Transport Services.

Please therefore do go ahead and make alternative arrangements for your child on those 2 days.

For pupils who have Free School Meals (FSM), we have ordered a £5 voucher from Edenred, and you will receive this in the usual way. This is to cover both of the strike action days next week.

While your child is at home on Wednesday and Thursday, please access the ‘Learning At Home’ tab on our website, where there are lots of ideas for a range of learning activities you can do with your child, using resources we hope you can find in the home. There are also stories and ‘how to’ videos you can watch, and past assemblies with lots of interesting topics for the pupils to learn about, linked to their curriculum work. You can access these learning activities here: Learning at Home

The school will remain open as usual for staff.

On Friday, when the pupils return, it is Comic Relief Red Nose Day, which will be lots of fun!

No further strike action days have been communicated by the NEU at this point. If there is any progress before next Wednesday in terms of the national negotiations, I will of course inform you of this at the earliest opportunity.

Yours sincerely

Patricia Lewis (Headteacher)
