Oak Field School
This week, classes from Key Stage 2 created a lovely interactive sculpture with artist Sian Watson. Pupils can explore it with ultra violet torches.
We have been wrapping, choosing and packing shoeboxes full of essential items to help the children affected by the conflict in Ukraine. So far we have made almost 60 boxes. Thank you for your generous donations, Oak Field hopes to be putting a smile on lots of children's faces.
Dear Parent/Guardian(s)
As you know, learning about the importance of helping others is very much part of the Oak Field curriculum.
From Monday 14 - Friday 25 March, we are asking for contributions towards a shoe box appeal for Ukrainian children and young people aged 3-6, 7-10 and 11-16.
The pupils will be sorting, packing and wrapping the shoeboxes to help children and young people who are in need.
Please see the attached information, especially the photographs of essential items for pupils and their families to collect to put in the shoe boxes. The charity has asked that these items are brand new, please.
Please send in what you can - this will make a huge difference to Ukranian children and young people who have been affected by the conflict.
Shoeboxes and wrapping paper also very welcome!
Families are also very welcome to donate money in a sealed envelope marked 'Ukraine appeal' or via the School Gateway.
Nationally (see My Nottingham News) an emergency fund-raising appeal has been set up by the Disasters Emergency Committee to support Ukrainian people, and donations can be made here www.dec.org.uk. The UK Government will match pound-for-pound up to £20 million donated by the public to this appeal.
If you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to contact me
Best wishes

Dear Parent/Guardian(s)
Next Friday (18th March) is Red Nose Day. This year the theme is “Funny is Power”: being able to laugh and having an individual impact - every penny has the power to make a big difference.
On that Friday, we would like pupils and staff to wear fancy dress - anything from pyjamas to pirates, superheroes to spotty dogs, anything goes! Or wear something red.
To raise money for the charity, it would be great if families could make a donation, which you can do through the School Gateway (see attached). Alternatively there will also be a collection box for cash on the Reception desk and at the cake sale table.
From Monday (14th March) classes across the school will be doing fun activities such as creating their own superhero masks and baking cakes. There will also be a whole school rowing challenge and ‘Red Nose and Spoon Race’ challenge throughout the week.
Thank you in advance for your support. We look forward to seeing lots of funny outfits and faces on Friday 18th March.
Yours sincerely
